Recently, they have provided funding for startups including startups tailored towards the African markets but are led by non Africans. For example, in 2022, they provided $28M to POA internet, a company led by 4 non Africans.

In 2022, Nayib Bukele President of El Salvador used funds from his country national reserve to purchase 15milllon dollars worth of Bitcoin. He claimed that cryptocurrency was a safer and sustainable way of keeping a country reserve than keeping it in traditional currency such as the US dollars.

Africa is one of the world’s biggest destinations for international lenders. This includes loans from international finance organizations. In recent times African countries have moved towards country lenders like China, etc moving away from traditional lenders like the IMF, World Bank, etc
